Aspire Leisure Centre Upgrades

Bob was treated to a tour of the newly upgraded Aspire Leisure Centre in Stanmore by Brian Carlin, the Chief Executive, and staff member Dean Tearle. He was particularly impressed by their new advanced hoisting system installed to assist people with mobility issues in getting changed to access the pool area, and also their all-in-one sinks which allow wheelchair users to wash, soap and dry their hands in one area, which has been designed by Dyson and provided at no cost.

Holocaust Memorial Day at Belmont Synagogue

Belmont Synagogue hosted a Holocaust Memorial Day Event for students from local High Schools with survivor Susan Pollack speaking about her experiences in a series of workshops. Bob attended to support the important event and is pictured here with two Year 8 students from Hatch End High.

BIA Flag Hoisting Ceremony

The Executive Committee of the Brent Indian Association kindly invited Bob to participate in a flag hoisting ceremony in celebration of the 69th Anniversary of India’s Independence. The triranga (three colour) flag was raised and the National Anthems of India and Britain were observed.

Equitable Life Meeting with the Economic Secretary

A cross-party delegation of MPs from the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Justice for Equitable Life Policyholders met the Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Simon Kirby, this morning for a constructive meeting about the ongoing issue of substantial amounts of money still being owed to victims of the Equitable Life Scandal. Lohri Celebrations

Bob celebrated the Indian winter harvest festival of Lohri with the communities from Jammu & Kashmir with the ceremonial bonfire and drumbeats along with traditional songs from the region. The programme was organised by the Voice of Dogras, who presented Bob the image of the Clock Tower of Old Jammu City, India.
