DiscoG Coding Grand Opening

Bob was pleased to cut the ribbon at the Grand Opening of DiscoG Coding, a new facility on Belmont Circle which offers tuition and support for young coders. Using the Raspberry Pi computer system, students are given the chance to learn coding, applying logical and analytical thinking and problem solving which will be highly valuable in their future working careers. AJEX Remembrance Parade and Ceremony 2017

Bob was honoured to attend the Association of Jewish Ex-Servicemen and Women (AJEX) Annual Remembrance Ceremony at the Cenotaph on Whitehall with a group from Stanmore Synagogue once again this year. It was particularly poignant as 2017 marks the centenary of the Battle of Passchendaele and the Middle East Campaign, as well as the 75th anniversary of the Dieppe Raid and the Second Battle of El Alamein.

Joint Mitzvah Day & Sewa Day RNOH Renovation

Mitzvah Day and Sewa Day are important days of volunteering for the Jewish and Hindu communites, and Bob got involved in a joint project between the Stanmore and Canons Park Synagogue and the Shree Swaminarayan Temple to renovate the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital's rehabilitation gardens. “It was truly rewarding to see volunteers from two local faith communities come together to help clear the gardens for our incredible Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital,” he said.

Remembrance Sunday Civic Service 2017

Bob took part in the annual Harrow Remembrance Civic Ceremony once again this year in honour of those who gave their life serving the country. The ceremony featured a parade led by the Glen Trew Pipe Band, poems written by children from schools across Harrow and also held a two minute silence for reflection on those who lost their lives. Commons vs Lords Bridge Match 2017

In his capacity as Chair of the APPG for Bridge, Bob hosts an annual House of Commons vs House of Lords Bridge Match which pitches Members from both Houses and from all parties against each other for the official Bridge cup. After a strong showing last year from Lords, and good fight this year, the Commons have wrestled the trophy back to the green benches.

Help to Rent Projects

Ahead of the Budget next month, Bob has joined with other MPs and Crisis, the national charity for homeless people, to urge the Chancellor to fund local projects aimed at helping homeless people into renting. Together with private landlord bodies, the RLA and NLA, Crisis is calling on the Government to commit £31m a year to help homeless people into renting through so-called ‘Help to Rent’ projects and by funding a national rent deposit guarantee scheme.

Tour of Temples 2017

Every year, Bob takes part in the celebrations for Hindu New Year by doing a 'tour of temples'. Mitzvah Day Drop In

Bob was pleased to drop into a Mitzvah Day event held in Parliament to support interfaith social action. The event, which was held by the Board of Deputies of British Jews, the APPG on British Jews and Mitzvah Day 365, precedes the annual day of charitable work which will fall on Sunday 19th November this year.
