Crisis 50th Anniversary Conference

Bob was honoured to be invited to speak to attendees of the Crisis 50th Anniversary ‘Ending Homelessness’ Conference at the Royal College of Physicians in London. He spoke about his Homelessness Reduction Bill and the work he has been doing, with the support of Crisis, to try and alleviate the enormous suffering of so many people who find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Ramanavami at Bhaktivedanta Manor

Bob was pleased to join in with the festivities for the very popular Ramanavami festival which were held at the Hare Krishna Temple (Bhaktivedanta Manor) in Hertfordshire. The event is a birthday celebration of the Hindu god, Lord Rama, and involves traditional dance and music, decorations, dramatic works, recitals and free prasadam (food) for attendees.

Grand National Ladbrokes Charity Bet

Ladbrokes kindly invited Bob to visit a local shop in Wealdstone and place a free £50 charity bet on the Grand National, with the hope of any proceeds going to Bob's favoured charity, St Luke's Hospice. Sadly, his picks of Perfect Candidate and The Last Samuri didn't place. Perhaps next year!

Telugu New Year Celebrations

Bob was happy to host an event to celebrate Telugu New Year, also known as Ugadi, in Parliament with the support of the Telugu NRI Forum, Inc. The festival is an important one for large parts of the Hindu diaspora as it marks the beginning of the Chaitra month in the Hindu calendar.

Persian New Year Celebrations

As part of his efforts to support the important work of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and the Anglo-Iranian community more generally, Bob has been active in calling for the UK Government to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organisation to curb Iran’s current malign influence in the Middle East. Indian APPGs Reception

The High Commissioner of India, His Excellency Mr Yashvardhan Kumar Sinha, kindly hosted a reception at the High Commission for India-related All Party Parliamentary Groups and Bob attended as Chair of the APPG for British Hindus, Co-Chair of the APPG for Indian Traditional Sciences and Vice Chair for the Indo-British APPG. Discussions were largely around the latter APPG's recent visit to India where they were able to meet with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.

World Water Day 2017

The Sanskriti Centre for Cultural Excellence held an event in Parliament, which Bob was happy to host, to commemorate World Water Day. Today, 1.8 billion people use a contaminated source of drinking water, putting them at risk of contracting cholera, dysentery, typhoid and polio.
